Congresswoman Kay Granger Kay Granger (born January 18 1943), a Republican politician from the U.S. state of Texas, currently represents the 12th congressional district (map) in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Granger was born in Greenville, Texas, and graduated from Texas Wesleyan University.
 will present a $500,000 check to the Fort Worth Independent School District Fort Worth Independent School District is a school district based in Fort Worth, Texas, United States. It is currently the fifth largest school district in Texas (but may fall to sixth within the next 1-2 years).

FWISD serves most of the city of Fort Worth.
 at 10:00 a.m., Monday, Feb. 23, 2004. Fort Worth School Trustee T.A. Sims and Superintendent Thomas Toco will represent the Fort Worth school district.

The reading program helps students learn how to read better at a much faster pace while a team of interpretive reading coaches train teachers to take advantage of real-time assessment data generated by the program's technology. The intent of the demonstration project is to implement a reading model that can assist a diverse student population, with varying levels of reading skills. If successful, the model could be employed nationally to help students, particularly at-risk students The term at-risk students is used to describe students who are "at risk" of failing academically, for one or more of any several reasons. The term can be used to describe a wide variety of students, including,
  1. ethnic minorities
  2. academically disadvantaged
, read better at a much faster pace.

The program is in a number of Fort Worth schools. The funding that Congresswoman Granger secured will expand the program into seven additional Fort Worth schools with a diversified student population and make it available to other schools. A group of Beal Elementary students, who are already using the interactive reading program to learn how to read, will demonstrate the system at the conclusion of the press conference.
