WHAT: Congressional event surrounding Capital River Relief, an
unprecedented cleanup of the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers
involving thousands of volunteers, local, and national
conservation groups.
The backdrop for the event will be the 140-foot barge that
will be piled with trash from the Potomac and Anacostia
rivers. As of April 16, Chad and his team have collected more
than 30 tons of trash including: 1,400 bags of trash, 706
tires, 15 fifty-five gallon barrels, twelve shopping carts,
seven refrigerators, three messages in bottles, two water
heaters, one mannequin hand.
