WHY: In May 1987, Lillian Disney donated $50 million for the
construction of Walt Disney Concert Hall on Los Angeles
County land. On October 20, the Concert Hall will be
officially dedicated to the people of Los Angeles.
Surrounded by parks, gardens, cafes, shops and other
spaces accessible from the nearby streets and downtown
office buildings, the Concert Hall is the city's newest
cultural destination. The Music Center's fourth venue,
Walt Disney Concert Hall is the new home of the
Los Angeles Philharmonic and Los Angeles Master Chorale.
The architectural masterwork is one of the most
sophisticated concert halls in the world, located in the
heart of a revitalized downtown Los Angeles.
NOTE: Parking for broadcast media only will be on First Street
and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Media will be able to photograph the auditorium stage from
the third level, the Garden and the exterior of the Hall
on Monday, October 20.
Full media tours of the Hall will be available Tuesday,
October 21, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday, October
22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Interviews with VIPs will be available on October 20 on
the steps outside the Hall immediately following the
ceremony.
