What:   Community Works will host, with support from Citibank, a gala
        re-opening for harlem is ..., its historic art exhibit
        celebrating the living history of Harlem. The exhibit features
        a new visual component, The Gospel Tradition, that highlights
        the rich traditions of Harlem's religious institutions.
        Highlight of the gala will include performances by the ARC
        Gospel Choir, the Ebony Ecumenical Ensemble, and the Girls
        Choir of Harlem. Developed by Community Works, an arts
        education nonprofit organization, harlem is ... celebrates the
        neighborhood's living history by honoring 30 of its remarkable
        community members, ages 50 - 100, from all sectors of society.
        The harlem is... exhibit displays on larger-than-life panels
        the honorees' photographs, taken by noted documentary
        photographer, Ruth Morgan, and the writings of Harlem public
        school students who interviewed them. In addition, harlem
        is... features the first-ever comprehensive timeline of
        Harlem's history starting in the 1600's. Consisting of 130
        entries with historical archival images from the Schomburg
        Library, the 50-foot timeline weaves throughout the exhibit
        and brings the evolution of the Harlem Community to life.
        harlem is... will be on display at the Cathedral Church of St.
        John the Divine through April 26, 2004. The exhibit is open
        daily, free of charge.
