What: A coalition of more than 25 leading national health and child
abuse prevention organizations are coming together at a
Community Forum in Connecticut to explore solutions to
reducing the incidence of child abuse and neglect.
Participating groups are members of a unique initiative,
called the National Call To Action: A Movement to End Child
Abuse and Neglect, and include the American Academy of
Pediatrics, American Medical Association, National Children's
Alliance, Prevent Child Abuse America, as well as child abuse
survivors (Authentic Voices).
Why: Child abuse and neglect is an insidious public health crisis
that must urgently be addressed. Authentic Voices, including
Youth Leaders from the Senator's Community Foundation, will
lend a voice for children -- children that are currently
suffering and cannot speak out about the harm inflicted upon
them.
