ADVISORY/Communications Impact of Infrared Data Technology is Focus of Northcon/98 Keynote.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
WHAT: On Wednesday, Oct. 21, the Northcon/98 electronics trade event
will culminate its wireless technology conference theme with a
unique, two-part keynote event addressing the influential new
developments in infrared data communications. Keynote speakers
will discuss how the technology opens the door to countless new
applications and enables greater flexibility for consumer and
business communications.
Michael R. Watson, president, IrDA Association and co-founder,
Calibre Inc., will present the first portion of the Northcon/98
keynote, which is titled "IrDA Marketplace Overview:
Applications Enabled by IrDA Data and IrDA Control." Watson
will address how infrared technology's new universal data port
technology allows for unprecedented communications
accessibility and application possibilities.
Robert Stuart, co-chair, IrDA Committee for IrDA Market
Requirement and product manager, Sharp Inc., will present the
second keynote address, which explores "IrDA CONTROL Technology
Development." Stuart will discuss how IrDA CONTROL technology
provides a bidirectional infrared link for computer product
input devices such as mice, keyboards, joysticks and game
pads. He also will discuss how a future extension is being
developed to enable an interface to home appliances.
