     WHAT: Continuing the legacy of community involvement and service,
     Columbia Sportswear Company(R) (Nasdaq:COLM) donated over 270
     youth parkas, 200 hooded sweatshirts and 200 pairs of socks to
     local children through the "Christmas for Kids" program. This
     annual community service program sponsored by the National
     Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors -- Portland
     (NAIFA-Portland) helps underprivileged children in the
     community receive coats, clothing and toys for the holidays.

     For more than 14 years, children from approximately 65 schools
     in 11 districts are nominated by their principals and
     counselors to participate in the program. This year
     NAIFA-Portland hopes to raise $30,000 in addition to usual
     donations of clothing and toys for more than 250 needy
     children in Portland.

     WHEN: Tuesday, December 9, 2003 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

     WHERE: Hollywood West Fred Meyer Store (Entrance B) 3030 NE
     Weidler Portland, OR (28th and Broadway)

     WHO: Over 18 local businesses including:

     Columbia Sportswear Company: Donated over 270 parkas, 200
     hooded sweatshirts, and 200 pairs of socks -- one for each
     child in attendance. Columbia employees will volunteer all
     day.

     Fred Meyer: Hollywood West store offers a generous 15%
     discount and special sale prices on all merchandise
     purchased for the children.

     Portland Police Department, Tigard Police Bureau, and
     Clackamas County Sheriff's Office: Officers will
     distribute friendly stuffed animals.

     ODS Health Plan: Volunteers will distribute dental hygiene
     kits to all the children.

     Santa Claus and costumed characters from Star Wars will
     entertain the kids throughout the day.
