ADVISORY/Clinton Administration Issues Workplace Safety Standards.Business Editors ADVISORY... --(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 14, 2000 TOPIC: Standards issued by the Clinton administration reportedly will offer workers new protection from job-related injuries, including musculoskeletal disorders, according to a report by The Associated Press. The regulations may force businesses to make changes in the workplace such as providing employees with different work stations and furnishing new tools that do not result in job-related injuries, the article says. However, some organizations such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers do not agree with the standards and have filed petitions to review the new workplace safety rules alleging the standards are costly and extreme. Businesses have until October 2001 to comply with the standards, which are to take effect in January.
