WHAT: City Year's First National Opening Day, 2002-2003 Service
Corps
On Tuesday, October 1, 2002, over 1,000 young leaders will
pledge to serve America by taking the City Year pledge,
setting the tone for an intense year where fellow corps
members across the nation will be united in their passion for
and commitment to service.
City Year corps members will answer President Bush's
post-9/11 "call to service" by devoting a minimum of 1,700
hours during his or her "city year."
These idealistic young leaders will mentor and tutor
elementary school students, teach social issues curricula and
run after-school programs.

after-school programs.
