More than 120 City National Bank colleagues and their families will help clean up First Street Elementary School elementary school: see school.  as part of L.A. Works Day. The volunteers will be painting walls, creating murals and cleaning up the school grounds. The bank also will donate books to the school library through its Reading Is The Way Up child literacy literacy

Ability to read and write. The term may also refer to familiarity with literature and to a basic level of education obtained through the written word. In ancient civilizations such as those of the Sumerians and Babylonians, literacy was the province of an elite
 program. This is the second year City National, the largest bank headquartered in Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, , has sponsored the citywide volunteer event. Last year, 100 colleagues helped clean up Tenth Street Elementary School.
