The $70 billion merger included one of the largest U.S. investment banks, Salomon Smith Barney Inc.
What: Citigroup and the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of
America (NACA), one of the country's largest housing
services organizations, announced this week a $3 billion
ten- year commitment to affordable mortgage lending.
Implementation of the commitment will begin Saturday, June
14 with five regional homebuyer workshops open to the
public and media. Hundreds of potential homeowners will
attend each workshop, taking their first step in the
buying process.
These mortgages will be available to moderate- and
low-income borrowers who graduate from NACA's financial
education and preparedness program. Under the terms of the
commitment, NACA-qualified borrowers will benefit from
lending terms which are among the best in the mortgage
industry, including no down payment, no closing costs, no
fees, no perfect credit required and an affordable
interest rate.
