What: Citibank, a member of Citigroup, will kick off its Black
History Month activities with an event at the Whitney Museum
celebrating the richness of African American heritage. The
event includes a private viewing of The Life and Art of Jacob
Lawrence, an exhibit featuring over 200 works by one of
America's leading modern figurative painters who is among the
most impassioned visual chroniclers of the African American
experience. Citibank Financial Centers across the U.S. will be
hosting a variety of Black History Month activities that will
include educational storytelling presentations and a free CD
giveaway of jazz music performed by leading African American
artists and a screen saver highlighting historic black
leaders. During the event at the Whitney, Citibank also will
present a grant of $25,000 to Operation HOPE in support of its
"Banking on Our Future" financial education program to benefit
children in Harlem.
