Title: "Life Cycle of Vulnerability Assessment Remediation"
Abstract: This talk will review the history and future of
vulnerabilities, exploits and countermeasures. In
addition, we will review a vulnerability assessment and
remediation process in live working environment. Known
vulnerabilities where a remedy existed, still remains the
number one cause for successful network attack
exploitations throughout the Internet. The session will
provide an illustration on how vulnerability scanners and
vulnerability remediation products are integrated to
provide effective countermeasures to the daunting number
of new vulnerabilities and threats.
Agenda: 1:30 - 2:00 Session Overview / History and Future of
Vulnerabilities and Exploits
2:00 - 3:15 Baseline Assessment - Live demonstration of
identifying and analyzing various types of vulnerabilities
from a vulnerability scan. In addition, a review of the
results will be discussed on specific vulnerabilities.
3:15 - 3:30 Break
3:30 - 4:45 Remediation Process - Live demonstration of
vulnerability remediation based upon the scan data from
the vulnerability assessment process. We will also provide
various tracking and reporting options on what vulnerable
systems have been remediated.
4:45 - 5:15 Trend Assessment - After the initial
assessment and remediation process has been completed we
will provide a second or trending scan which will
illustrate numerous comparison reports on how we have
improved the vulnerability exposures in our network.
