WHO:     Los Angeles Police Department Chief Bernard C. Parks and
         Central City Association (CCA) President Carol Schatz

WHAT:    The CCA's monthly general membership luncheon, where Chief
         Parks will speak on the topic "LAPD: Under the Microscope"
         and address a range of issues that will affect the future of
         the department.

WHY:     Chief Parks has been a longtime friend of downtown Los
         Angeles. At the luncheon, Schatz will present Chief Parks
         with a $5,000 contribution to the Los Angeles Police Memorial
         Foundation from the downtown business community. The
         contribution represents the proceeds from a recent barbecue
         lunch held by the CCA and Downtown Center Business
         Improvement District in honor of law enforcement's efforts
         during the recent Democratic National Convention.
