On August 12, Chicago hotel workers voted 3,952 to 67 to authorize the union's negotiating committee to call a strike if necessary at midnight on August 31. On Friday, August 23, workers will take to the streets to demand fair wages, health care and rights on the job. The march will begin at the plaza next to the Chicago Tribune Chicago Tribune Daily newspaper published in Chicago. The Tribune is one of the leading U.S. newspapers and long has been the dominant voice of the Midwest. Founded in 1847, it was bought in 1855 by six partners, including Joseph Medill (1823–99), who made the paper building (435 N. Michigan ave.) and proceed north. Carrying large, colorful banners, flags and signs the workers will march up the Magnificent Mile The Magnificent Mile is the portion of Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois extending from the Chicago River to Oak Street in Near North Side community area.[1] , past the Drake Hotel The following hotels are named the Drake Hotel:
