TOPIC: Semiconductor industry analysts foresee that computers and other high-tech devices such as cell phones will become more affordable over the next decade as U.S. technology companies buy more semiconductors from overseas suppliers, the AP reported today. During 2000, companies are expected to increase their buying of chips from overseas manufacturers by 43 percent, to $25 billion, analysts say. The market share of foundries, or private silicon chip manufacturers, is expected to increase from the current 12 percent to 40 or 50 percent by 2010.
