What: The risk of becoming overweight has dramatically
increased over the past two decades and more than 30
percent of children and teenagers are obese, according
to the American Obesity Association. Philadelphia
youth is no exception. In an effort to promote
awareness among children and teenagers on how to
maintain a healthy weight, Drexel University's
Nutrition Center and the Philadelphia School District
will co-host "Changing the Shape of Philadelphia's
Youth," for educators and school officials.
During the day-long activities, educators will learn
how to promote healthy food choices among children and
adolescents in Philadelphia's public schools.
