SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 15, 2001

California Lottery lottery, scheme for distributing prizes by lot or other method of chance selection to persons who have paid for the opportunity to win. The California Lottery is working in partnership with GTECH Corporation in this check presentation effort. Fresno Lottery staff worked with the affected school district to select the recipient school. Each school determines how the funding will be used at their site.

The California Lottery has a real commitment beyond its constitutional mandate to raise funds for California's public schools. Each year, it supports statewide competitions, which recognize excellence in student academics, teacher performance or program design. Currently, the agency is actively involved in the California Academic Decathlon decathlon (dĭkăth`lŏn), in modern Olympic games, a contest for men held over two days and composed of 10 track-and-field events.  competition and the California Teachers of the Year program.
