Forward-Looking Discussions
WHAT:
As the fourth installment of its five-part series of Innovation
Forums designed to bring COMDEX to the buyer, where they live and
work, COMDEX is joining forces with Fortune, Fortune Small Business
and Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe LLP to host a free, half-day
educational session on digital convergence. According to Syracuse
University's Digital Convergence Center, the term "digital
convergence" describes profound changes in the structure of media
caused by the emergence of digital technologies as the dominant method
for representing, storing and communicating information.
The rise of digital convergence has allowed information content
from sound broadcasting, telephony, television, motion pictures,
photography and printed text to merge with financial resources; fusing
into a single application or service. In the past, information and
communication technologies were segmented into discrete economic and
technical systems with minimal capabilities for interoperability. This
session will examine the evolution of digital convergence and its
anticipated impact on business and society.
The COMDEX Innovation Forums are one-day interactive educational
seminars scheduled to take place from May through June in Chicago;
Washington, D.C.; San Jose, Calif.; New York; and Los Angeles.
