ADVISORY/CALA To Protest at Trial Lawyer Convention in San Francisco -- ``Lawsuit Abuse Makes Us Sick!''.

Business Editors/Political Writers

ADVISORY...for Tuesday Tuesday: see week.  (July July: see month.  22)

--(BUSINESS WIRE)

WHAT: A news conference and rally to highlight the statewide
campaign, "Lawsuit Abuse Makes Us Sick," drawing attention
to how lawsuit abuse negatively affects costs, access to
and delivery of healthcare. Local healthcare professionals
and citizens will come together to send the message that
the interests of patients should be served, not the
special interests of personal injury lawyers.

WHEN: Association of Trial Lawyers of America 2003 Annual
            Convention
            Tuesday, July 22, 2003
            12:00 Noon - 1 p.m.

WHERE: Union Square, San Francisco (main stage area)
            BART Directions:
-- Get off at the Powell Street station
-- Take Powell Street exit out of station
-- Walk three blocks uphill on Powell
-- Enter at Geary and Powell

WHO: -- Maryann Maloney, Executive Director of Orange County
               Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse (CALA)
-- Martha Montelongo Myers, Political Commentator, KION AM
               1460

WHY: 76% of Americans believe that excessive lawsuits are
driving up healthcare costs and threatening access to
doctors, hospitals, nursing homes, medical implant devices
and vaccines. The "Lawsuit Abuse Makes Us Sick" protest
rally is being held to show the public how frivolous
litigation has enriched personal injury lawyers, while
adversely impacting both the quality and the cost of care
            for the rest of us.

INTERVIEW Maryann Maloney will be available for interviews prior
OPPS: to and during the event.

VISUALS: A decommissioned ambulance with the message, "Personal
Injury Lawyer Bait," and a "living display" representing
how Americans are all victims of excessive litigation.
