WHAT: Brooks Sports Inc. continues its 2002 Muddy Buddy(R) Ride
and Run Event Series in Atlanta on Sunday, October 6. The
one-of-a-kind team competition will take place outside
Atlanta at Georgia International Horse Park. The race
consists of teams of two running and biking through 10
kilometers of trails, challenging obstacles and the
infamous Muddy Buddy(R) mud pit.
WHEN: Sunday, October 6 at 9 a.m.
WHERE: Georgia International Horse Park outside Atlanta in
Conyers, GA
WHY: The unique Brooks Muddy Buddy(R) 10K event works like a
relay. One participant is running while the other is
biking. At each mile mark, the cyclist drops the bike and
conquers an obstacle and transitions to the runner, while
the runner completes the obstacle course and transitions to
the cyclist. Race divisions include elite, co-ed, male,
female and Beast (team combined weight of more than 400
pounds). Winners from regional races qualify to compete in
the Brooks Muddy Buddy(R) World Championship on Catalina
Island off the coast of southern California on
December 6, 2002.

CHARITY: The Atlanta Brooks Muddy Buddy benefits the Challenged
Athletes Foundation, an organization that reaches out to
people with disabilities by helping them pursue a more
active lifestyle through physical fitness and competitive
sports. Challenged athlete Suzanne Elbon will be
participating on October 6. Suzanne is an amazing
triathlete. An arm amputee, Suzanne completes an Olympic
distance Triathlon in 3:13.
DIRECTIONS TO RACE:
The Atlanta Brooks Muddy Buddy is approximately 30 minutes
from downtown Atlanta. From Atlanta, take I-20 East to
Exit 82 (Hwy 138/GA 20). Go left 3.5 miles to Centennial
Olympic Parkway and turn right. The MTB venue is
approximately 1.5 miles down Centennial Olympic Parkway on
the right. Coming from the opposite direction, go right at
exit 82 & follow the same directions to the site.

Packet pick-up will take place at the Galyan's Lenox
Marketplace location on Saturday, October 5 from 11 a.m. to

POST RACE: Following the race, participants and spectators can enjoy

including the Brooks Trespass, the official shoe of the
Muddy Buddy(R) Series, an award-winning Specialized
mountain bike and a streamlined Yakima rack system.

Catalina Island (December 6).
