News/Assignment Editors/City Desks

ADVISORY...for Saturday Saturday: see week; Sabbath.  (Nov. 18)

--(BUSINESS WIRE)

DATE: Saturday, November 18, 2000

TIME: 10:00 a.m. TO 4:00 p.m.
Firestone keynote is at 11:00 a.m.

LOCATION: LAX Marriott
            5855 West Century Boulevard
            Los Angeles, Calif. 310/641-5700

PURPOSE: LOS ANGELES -- On the heels of the third consecutive
election debacle for California Republicans, Brooks
Firestone will launch his campaign to return the focus of
the California Republican Party to mainstream California
voters and issues that impact their daily lives. Firestone
is a former Assemblyman and founder of The Firestone
Vineyard. He is leading the Republican Mainstream
Coalition, a broad-based coalition of candidates working
to promote a party vision appealing to California's
diverse GOP population, swing voters and "Reagan
Democrats." 1996 and 2000 presidential election exit polls
have confirmed these important voter subgroups have fled
the Party in recent years due to its extreme right-wing
            posture.

Firestone will be available immediately following his
            remarks for one-on-one interviews.
