) and four of its ten regions this week will sponsor a briefing on the CALFED Bay-Delta Program.

The day-long event takes place Thursday, February 10 at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is the largest bulk water supplier for municipal use in the world. The name is usually shortened to the "Metropolitan Water District" or simply "MWD". , and is titled &uot;Can CALFED Provide For California's Future?&uot;

The briefing will take a hard look at where CALFED stands in reaching the goals it set out to accomplish in 1995. Round table discussions will feature conversations with Steven R. Ritchie, acting executive director of the CALFED Program, Metropolitan's General Manager, Ronald R. The briefing will also feature discussions with Senator Jim Costa James Manuel "Jim" Costa (born April 13 1952) is a Democratic politician from the U.S. state of California. He was elected to the United States House of Representatives in November 2004 to represent the 20th Congressional District of California.  (D - Fresno) and Assembly Member Mike Machado (D - Linden), authors of the $1.97 billion Proposition 13 water bond slated for the March ballot. Prop. 13 will help finance many of the restoration projects included in CALFED's eventual plan for the Delta.
