ADVISORY/Berkeley Biotechnology Education, Inc. to Present Awards at Oakland's Lakeview Club.

WHO: Berkeley Biotechnology Education, Inc. (BBEI) an award-winning,
     nonprofit education and training program established in 1993 in
     conjunction with a precedent-setting Development Agreement
     between the city of Berkeley and Bayer Corp. (the city's largest
     industrial employer).

WHAT: Students in the BBEI program will present awards to Chiron
     Corp., Berkeley Vice Mayor Shirek, Chancellor Al Harrison,
     Oakland School Board Member Noel Gallo, and U.S. Department of
     Education Regional Representative and former Mayor of Berkeley
     Loni Hancock, in recognition of their individual and collective
     efforts to promote school-to-work, science education, and
     opportunities for young people.

WHEN: Oct. 8 at 7 p.m.

WHERE: Lakeview Club, Kaiser Center, 300 Lakeside Drive, Oakland

WHY: To celebrate BBEI's fifth anniversary and to recognize
     contributions by industry, educators, and the community toward
     science education.
