SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 7, 2000

 protest in front of the King County Court House, 500 4th Avenue in downtown Seattle Downtown is the central business district of Seattle, Washington. It is fairly compact compared to other city centers on the West Coast because of its geographical situation: hemmed in on the north and east by hills, on the west by Elliott Bay, and on the south by reclaimed land  from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. The protest will aim to educate the public about the civil rights violation of permanently sealing original birth certificates and adoption records to adult adoptees.

Protesters will carry signs and distribute literature on adoptee rights in front of the Court House. Bastard Nationals and supporters of adoptee rights, including local adoptees, adoptee rights leaders, birthmothers and adoptive parents adoptive parents Social medicine Persons who lawfully adopt children, who are generally married couples but may be single persons, including homosexuals; most APs are married , will be on hand for interviews.

This event is being held in conjunction with the Bastard Nation's 4th annual conference on adoptee rights and activism being held at the Aljoya Conference Center in downtown Seattle from September 8 - September 11, 2000.

Formed in 1996, Bastard Nation Bastard Nation is a North American adoptee rights organization. It seeks to establish the right of adoptees to access their own original birth certificates, the sealed records typical of a closed adoption, a common type of adoption in the United States.  speaks out against the archaic practice of sealed records and is dedicated to the equal treatment and dignity of all adopted citizens.
