extension to SFO, and honor the BART District's
designation as one of the "Top Ten" Public Works Projects
of the 20th Century. Plaque unveiling in the SFO Station
to occur approximately 7:00 p.m.

AWARD BACKGROUND:
In September 2000, the American Public Works Association
named BART as one of the "Top Ten" Public Works Projects
of the 20th Century. Other "Top Ten" include the Hoover
Dam, the Interstate Highway System, Panama Canal and
Golden Gate Bridge.
"Friends of BART to SFO" is a nonprofit organization
created to organize and fund at no cost to the public the
celebrations associated with the start of regular fare
service on June 22nd. Conventional fare service on the new
four-station BART extension, including SFO, will commence
on Sunday, June 22nd.
