Who:           Acclaimed National Geographic photographer Sam Abell
----           takes you on a road trip across the magnificence and
               mystery of the land down under. The stunning result of
               a year's travel and work, these scenic and cultural
               images reveal Australia as never before. Abell began
               working with the National Geographic Society in l970.
               Seven of his books have been published in the past
               five years, among them Australia: Journey Through a
               Timeless Land (1999). In 1990, Eastman Kodak honored
               him with a retrospective monograph of his photos
               called Stay This Moment.

What:          The Great Adventurers series, held in cities around
-----          the country, brings you face-to-face with some of the
               remarkable people who have been face-to-face with the
               world's wonders. The series offers the opportunity to
               hear and meet the men and women who explore the world
               on assignment for the National Geographic Society,
               world's largest nonprofit scientific and educational
               organization.
