(June June: see month. 7) WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 6, 2003 Participants of the 2003 National Conference on Community Volunteering and National Service being held in Baltimore Baltimore, city (1990 pop. 736,014), N central Md., surrounded by but politically independent of Baltimore co., on the Patapsco River estuary, an arm of Chesapeake Bay; inc. 1745. , June 8 -10, will volunteer their time for a special day of service to benefit Baltimore communities. The project will help to improve the outside appearance of a school identified three years ago as one of the three worst in the state, due to failing test scores, poor attendance and poor parent participation. The school is now being run by Edison Schools Edison Schools Inc. is a for-profit company that manages public schools in the United States and the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1992. History Edison Schools was widely hailed at the beginning of the 21st century as the leader in what "school reformers" saw as the in partnership with the Maryland Maryland (mâr`ələnd), one of the Middle Atlantic states of the United States.
