L.A. County DA's office has utilized Professional Organizer
Dorothy Breininger to help 71-year-old Inglewood resident
Lloyd Drum successfully avoid jail time for criminal hoarding
charges. A meeting today will officially mark the clean-up
project complete and declare its success.
"Hoarding" is the excessive collection and retention of items
or animals to the point where they interfere with day-to-day
functions such as home, health, family, work and social life.
Severe hoarding causes safety and health hazards, and is most
commonly found among the elderly.
Mr. Drum had already faced civil charges for violation of
building and safety, environmental, fire and public health
codes. He worked with the County to avoid criminal charges and
jail time by allowing organizer Dorothy Breininger to come in
and clear out the house and bring it up to code.
