What: Arnold Schwarzenegger, the architect and sponsor of
Proposition 49, will outline the initiative's plan to
create a safe, educationally-enriching and fun after
school environment at all of California's public
elementary and middle schools.
Mark Baldassare, Director of Research at the Public Policy
Institute of California, will unveil his new report
entitled "Coping with Homeland Security in California:
Surveys of City Officials and State Residents." This
report is the first comprehensive analysis of the ways in
which city officials and citizens in California are
responding to homeland security issues. It offers a
"snapshot in time," when city officials and state
residents are in the early stages of assessing the new
realities confronting local governments a year after the
terrorist attacks on America.
Studies indicate that more than 5 million people will
require housing in California cities over the next decade.
Henry Cisneros, former Secretary of Housing and Urban
Development, will discus how California can confront the
crisis that this population boom will place on housing,
infrastructure development and governmental agencies.
