WHAT: Variety columnist Army Archerd will be presented with the
      Scopus Award, the highest honor of the American Friends of The
      Hebrew University (AFHU). The award is in recognition of Mr.
      Archerd's "long-standing support of humanitarian causes and the
      state of Israel," said Peter Weil, AFHU western region vice
      president, and will be presented to Mr. Archerd at a "Hollywood
      Spectacular" gala at The Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel on
      January 28th, 2003. Event chairs include Actor Michael Douglas,
      Ron Meyer, president and COO, Universal, and Alex Yemenidjian,
      chairman and CEO, MGM.

      The Scopus Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated
      leadership for humanitarian causes throughout their careers.
      Past awardees include Steven Spielberg, Barbra Streisand, Frank
      Sinatra, Quincy Jones, Elie Weisel, Zubin Mehta, Gregory Peck,
      Kirk Douglas, and Billy Crystal, among many others.

      Founded by American philanthropist Felix M. Warburg, American
      Friends of The Hebrew University is dedicated to strengthening
      The Hebrew University of Jerusalem by providing resources that
      perpetuate the University's cultural, intellectual and
      educational endeavors. Since its inception in 1925, AFHU has
      been instrumental in helping the University achieve the highest
      level of academic and research excellence in all disciplines of
      the sciences and humanities.
