WHAT: To celebrate the October 18 launch of Nextel Partners' (Nasdaq:NXTP)
all-digital wireless network in Corpus Christi the company is donating 10
wireless phones and free service for a year to the American Red Cross Coastal
Bend - Texas Chapter's Disaster Action Team. The total donation is valued at
nearly $13,000. Utilizing the phone's four-in-one service - especially its
two-way radio feature - the donation to the American Red Cross will help
improve communication and coordination of relief assistance during disasters
and emergency situations. The Disaster Action Team is often first at the scene
providing assistance at Coastal Bend disasters such as house fires and weather
related emergencies. Nextel's technology will be used to provide timely
communication between volunteers and Red Cross staff to aid assistance efforts.
Nextel's unique service is the first in Corpus Christi to combine digital
cellular, wireless Internet, digital two-way radio and text/numeric paging, all
