What:               The American Red Cross, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity,
                    Inc., Mu Omega Chapter and the
                    Philadelphia-Delaware Valley Chapter, Sickle Cell
                    Disease Association of America will announce their
                    partnership in celebration of the life of Dr.
                    Charles R. Drew.

Why:                These three organizations are acting locally, and
                    thinking globally, in an effort to encourage blood
                    donations for the Dr. Charles R. Drew Memorial
                    Blood Drive being held on June 3 at 4601 Market
                    Street, the Center for Human Advancement.

These three community-minded organizations are proud to come together to form a strategic alliance to encourage blood donations in the Philadelphia area. Omega Psi Phi Omega Psi Phi (ΩΨΦ) is a national fraternity, and was the first black national fraternal organization to be founded at a historically black college. Omega Psi Phi was founded on November 17, 1911, at Howard University in Washington, D.C.  Fraternity, Inc. has made the Dr. Charles R. Drew Dr. Charles Richard Drew (June 3, 1904 – April 1, 1950) was an African-American physician and medical researcher. He researched in the field of blood transfusions, developing improved techniques for blood storage, and applied his expert knowledge in developing large-scale  Memorial Blood Drive a nationally-mandated program for all chapters in the fraternity.

The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Mu Omega chapter's second annual blood drive, being held Saturday, June 3 at 4601 Market Street, the Center for Human Advancement There are many Human Advancement programmes around the world which are mainly concerned with improving the lives of people in poor communities. Human Advancement is also about making changes to society in order to improve the lives of individuals, their mental, emotional and , first floor, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. will raise blood donations for patients who need blood in our area. Donors should call 1-800-GIVE LIFE to schedule an appointment to donate.

"Splene-" means spleen.  and in the care of patients with sickle cell disease sickle cell disease or sickle cell anemia, inherited disorder of the blood in which the oxygen-carrying hemoglobin pigment in erythrocytes (red blood cells) is abnormal. , especially children who may need frequent transfusions to prevent complications such as stroke and organ damage.
