What: American Red Cross 25th Annual Blood Recognition
Why: Red Cross will honor dedicated Delaware County donors who
have given four gallons of blood and up because they are
very special people in the community. Only five percent of
those who could give blood actually donate. That means five
percent are meeting 100 percent of our area needs.
Who: Wilma Hutchinson
Chairman, American Red Cross Chester Wallingford Chapter
Susan Spafford, Miss Pennsylvania
Second Runner-Up to Miss America 2000
Christine Adams
Blood donations helped save the life of this mother of two
When: Friday, January 21, 2000
Noon to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Springhaven Club
Providence Road (Route 252)
Wallingford, PA
610/872-9491
What else:
The community blood supply is made possible by healthy volunteers
who donate at blood drives scheduled throughout the area.
Because there is no substitute for donated blood, seasonal blood
shortages, like the shortage being felt across the nation this
January, can affect patient care. During the last two years, donations
have increased nationwide by eight percent while the need for blood
has increased by 11 percent. More donations are needed!
Red Cross volunteers and volunteer donors help critically ill
patients, provide emergency disaster relief, teach health and safety
courses, and provide emergency social services for military families.
To donate blood, call the American Red Cross at 800/GIVE LIFE. For
disaster relief and other Red Cross community services, call the
Chester Wallingford Red Cross Chapter at 610/874-1484.
