Who: 7 troops from the Tres Condados Girl Scout Council will
compete in the first Scarecrow Contest and Show to earn cash
for their favorite charity.
What: Beginning at 11 a.m., troops will assemble life-size
scarecrows on wooden T-frames in the maze courtyard. At 3
p.m., $300 will be awarded for first place and $200 for
second. Winning troops designate a local charity to receive
the cash prize donations.
The Amazing Maize Maze is not affiliated with any other mazes in
California.
Why: Girl Scouts are a symbol of teamwork and represent the local
community. The maze is the perfect setting for participating
troops to work together for charity, while having fun. This event
demonstrates the ongoing commitment of the Amazing Maize Maze to
supporting the local community.
The Scarecrow Contest and Show will serve as the kick-off event
for other upcoming fall activities at the maze, including a
moonlight maze Oct. 19-30. All scarecrows will remain on display
to decorate the courtyard.

General Info: It's open to the public Sept. 14 through late fall on
Thursdays through Mondays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or dusk
(whichever is earlier), last entry one hour prior to
closing. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Tickets: $10
adults, $7 children, age 4-12 and seniors, age 65+.
Discounts are available for groups.
The journey through the cornfield includes music, a
gameboard, mailboxes, bridges, a Maze Master, a
"show," a landscaped courtyard, guest orientation
and interactive audience activities. The site has
picnic facilities and a horticulture display.
To ensure a longer season, Pacific Earth Resources is
offering 2 mazes, each depicting different Aztec
designs. The Summer Maze ended its season on
Sept. 5, and the Fall Maze, located across the
way, opened on Sept. 14.
