ADVISORY/Allied Pilots Association Says American Airlines is Harassing Safety Advocates.Business Editors ADVISORY...for Tuesday Tuesday: see week. (April 2) --(BUSINESS WIRE)
WHO: Allied Pilots Association, collective bargaining agent
for the 11,000 pilots of American Airlines.
WHAT: Press Conference
WHERE: Embassy Suites Hotel
3974 N.W. South River Drive
Miami, Florida
Tel. 305-634-5000
WHEN: Tuesday, April 2, 2002
10:30 AM to Noon Eastern Standard Time
WHY: APA strongly believes that American Airlines
(NYSE:AMR) is discriminating against pilots who are
critical of American's commitment to safety. Recently,
several APA officials were subjected to "investigative
hearings" convened by flight department managers who
objected to the pilots wearing their pilot uniforms
during media appearances. Captain Rich Rubin, who
filed a Whistleblower complaint with the Federal
Aviation Administration, will be at the news
conference providing details of American's pattern of
discrimination against safety advocates. Captain Tom
Frazer and First Officer Rob Sproc, Chairman and Vice
Chairman of the MIA pilot crew base, will also be on
hand. These pilots will take questions from the media
and will be available for one-on-one interviews.
The safety issues raised by APA officials include
American's safety record, pilot fatigue, security,
regulatory compliance, and the unexplained crash of an
American Airlines Airbus A300.
Founded in 1963, the Allied Pilots Association is headquartered in
Fort Worth, Texas
