WHO: All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan's largest airline
WHAT: Boeing 747 jumbo jet, exterior painted with Pokemon
characters. Aircraft is 232 feet in length and is covered nose
to tail in characters, some more than 20 feet tall, from the
popular children's television cartoon series, movie and
Nintendo software game. Pokemon features more than 150
characters, each with magical powers. Over the past few years,
Pokemon has won the hearts and captured the imagination of
children and adults in Japan and the U.S.
WHEN: June 3, 2000, 1030 a.m.- 1230 p.m.
WHERE: Washington, D.C.
Dulles International Airport
The Pokemon 747 will be part of the annual "Dulles Day
Family Festival, which draws thousands to the airport.
WHY: To bring the infectious joy of the Pokemon characters to our
transpacific passengers. Onboard, ANA flight attendants wear
Pokemon aprons and seats feature Pokemon headrest covers. This
aircraft is used on ANA's U.S. routes from Tokyo to Los
Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., London and Paris.
ANA has six other Pokemon aircraft in service on routes in
Japan.
