WHAT: Sanjeev Verma, vice president of marketing and
business development for Airvana Inc., an All-IP 3G
Radio Access Network (RAN) infrastructure equipment
provider, will provide an insightful look at issues
concerning the rollout of next generation networks,
during a panel discussion at the Chicago COMDEX 2002
conference, held March 4-7, 2002 in Chicago.
Verma will participate on the panel "2.5G and 3G
Cellular: Broadband Arrives," on Wednesday, March 6,

extensive software development background, which
includes leading the development of Motorola's first
V.34 modem.
The panel will discuss the gradual rollout of 2.5G
and 3G cellular networks that have been anxiously
awaited by users and network managers alike given
their promise of higher throughput and more capacity.
The panel will also discuss key questions surrounding
2.5G and 3G, such as cost, early deployment
engineering issues, availability and other
technologies and systems that might become available
to realize the promise of mobile broadband.
WHO: Airvana was formed by senior executives from
Motorola, Lucent, Cisco and Nortel to develop
infrastructure equipment for the Radio Access Network
(RAN) based on 1xEV-DO, a 3G high-speed mobile data
standard. Airvana was inspired by the belief that the
Internet Protocol (IP) will change wireless networks
as profoundly as it has wired networks. The company
is developing IP-based RAN elements that dramatically
improve the economics of deploying high-speed mobile
Internet services.
