Biography for Dr. Rang-Chen Yu, Senior Director, System Engineering, Agility Communications

During his career, Dr. Rang-Chen Yu has enjoyed wide-ranging successes in developing innovative optoelectronics products. Prior to Agility, Dr. Yu was director, optical engineering at Cinta Networks, where he was responsible for optical technology and optical hardware and system engineering for a DWDM transport and switching networking platform based on widely tunable laser technology. Earlier, as product engineering manager at Bandwidth9, Yu was responsible for the early-stage development of a VCSEL-based tunable laser product. He has also held senior engineering and management positions at SDL Inc. (now part of JDSU), where he was responsible for the development of high-speed fiber optical transmitter and receiver modules. Rang-Chen earned his Ph. D. in solid-state physics solid-state physics, study of the properties of bulk matter rather than those of the individual particles that compose it. Solid-state physics is concerned with the properties exhibited by atoms and molecules because of their association and regular, periodic arrangement in crystals. The descriptive side of the study of solids is crystallography. From a practical point of view, searches are made for new characteristics and behavior of various materials. from University of Pennsylvania, and conducted research at Princeton University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Conductus conductus: see motet. Inc. Dr. Yu has been granted five patents in high-speed laser and tunable laser-related technology inventions.
