Celebrating Nearly a Century of Aviation Expertise, Jerome F. Lederer Jerome F. Lederer (September 26, 1902 - February 6, 2004) was an American aviation-safety pioneer, known as "Mr. Aviation Safety."

WHAT: Born a year before the Wright Brothers conducted the first
      successful flight at Kitty Hawk, centenarian Jerome F. Lederer
      has lived to see aviation take flight from its conception to the
      present day. In recognition of his dedication to aviation
      safety, Lederer will be honored with the first-ever H.B.
      Drollinger Lifetime Achievement Award at the 23rd Annual Howard
      Hughes Memorial Award Dinner hosted by the Aero Club of Southern
      California. The oldest safety expert in the world and founder of
      the Flight Safety Foundation, Lederer is known internationally
      as Mr. Aviation Safety and has led the industry in aircraft
      accident prevention and research.  Commemorating a century of
      flight safety progress, Lederer truly deserves this exceptional
      honor, which acknowledges aviation and aerospace leaders who
      have made lifetime contributions to the advancement of the
      industry.

      Additionally, Sam F. Iacobellis, retired vice-president and
      deputy chairman of Rockwell International and president of
      Rockwell's North American Aviation Operations, will be honored
      with the 23rd Annual Howard Hughes Memorial Award Medallion in
      recognition of his outstanding contributions to the aviation and
      space technology industry. He joins the likes of John "Jack"
      Northrop, James "Jimmy" Doolittle, Charles "Chuck" Yeager and
      Willis M. Hawkins.
