In 1988, Merrill Lynch Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. (NYSE: MER TYO: 8675 ), through its subsidiaries and affiliates, provides capital markets services, investment banking and advisory services, wealth management, asset management, insurance, banking and related products and services on a global basis.  and the Greater Washington Urban League made a promise to 25 first-grade students who entered the District of Columbia's Hendley Elementary School elementary school: see school. : if they completed their education, they would each receive full, all-expenses-paid scholarships to any college or university.

On June 23, 2000, students, parents, the Greater Washington Urban League and Merrill Lynch will gather at the White House, this time to celebrate the achievements of the ScholarshipBuilder students as nearly all of them prepare to attend college.

As part of the gathering, the group will receive a briefing from White House officials on education and national service initiatives and opportunities.
