          Stewart Relay Marathon, which takes place on April 9 at
          Griffith Park.

WHY:      Proceeds from the Jimmy Stewart Relay Marathon benefit Saint
          John's Health Center's Child and Family Development Center.

          For more than three decades (since 1962), the center has
          been committed to meeting the emotional, educational and
          developmental needs of children, adolescents and their
          families. The center's primary services focus on the
          treatment of children exposed to child abuse, depression,
          physical and emotional disabilities and prenatal exposure to
          drugs and alcohol.

          The Therapeutic Preschool helps children who were prenatally
          exposed to drugs or have developmental delays, and is
          recognized by the U.S. Office of Education for its "best
          practices" in early-childhood education. The center is also
          nationally known for its Deaf Services program.

          Since its inception, the marathon has raised more than
          $4.5 million for the center.
