On Wednesday, June 11th, 2003 at 12:00 pm. a coalition of Labor, Hispanic, Senior and Public Interest groups will hold a rally on the steps of the Federal Building on Wall Street to protest the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) proposed settlement with WorldCom/MCI, currently under consideration in Federal Court. The protest will feature a giant, 24-foot screw screw, simple machine consisting essentially of a solid cylinder, usually of metal, around which an inclined plane winds spirally, either clockwise or counterclockwise.  to illustrate the magnitude of how the New York Public Interest Research Group The New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) is a student activism and training organization based in New York City. It has existed since 1973 . Its current executive director is Rebecca Weber and its founding director was Donald K. Ross.  (NYPIRG NYPIRG New York Public Interest Research Group ) perceives WorldCom's fraud has screwed direct and indirect investors across the country.
