WHAT:    Mayor James Hahn will join Los Angeles Department of Water
         and Power Board commissioners and executives to celebrate the
         Department's 100th anniversary. The celebration will showcase
         LADWP's service to Los Angeles and highlight some of the
         Department's most notable projects, including the Los Angeles
         Aqueduct.

WHO:     Mayor Jim Hahn
         Kenneth Lombard, President, Water and Power Commission
         David Wiggs, LADWP General Manager
         City Councilmember Ruth Galanter

WHEN:    Thursday, February 7
         10 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

WHERE:   800 Block of North Alameda Street (across from Union Station)
         Los Angeles, CA

WHY:     To commemorate its century of service to the City of Los
         Angeles, the Department will celebrate its 100th anniversary
         on the spot where the city water delivery system began,
         Olvera Street. The delivery of water and electricity helped
         transform a small pueblo into the nation's second largest
         city. This celebration also highlights the service of LADWP
         employees over the last 100 years.
