WHAT: The 500 fastest-growing technology companies in
North America will be announced on Nov. 14, 2001, in
the seventh annual Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast
500 program. Deloitte & Touche will also announce 25
"Rising Star" winners.
HOW: Fast 500 winners are selected based on the
percentage of revenue growth from 1996-2000
(five-year period). To qualify for the Fast 500,
entrants must:
-- Have had 1996 operating revenues of at least
$50,000 USD and $75,000 CD for the United States
and Canada, respectively.
-- Be public or private companies with headquarters
in North America.
-- Be a "technology company," defined as a company
that develops proprietary technology, which
contributes to a significant portion of the
company's operating revenues, manufactures a
technology-related product, or devotes a high
percentage of effort to research and development
of technology.
Eligibility is the same for "Rising Star" winners
except that they are selected based on the
percentage of growth in revenues for just three
years, from 1998-2000, and are companies in business
less than five years, but at least three years.
The Fast 500 ranking includes technology companies
in a variety of industries, including biotechnology,
computers, Internet, communications, software, and
much more.
