Various Healthcare Opportunities

With the healthcare industry in Boston and across the nation facing critical staffing shortages, BostonWorks has teamed up with the Massachusetts Department of Education to create Massachusetts Healthcare Career Day, designed to expose high school students to the variety of careers available in the healthcare industry.

On Wednesday, December 10, the Executive Conference Center at the Bayside Expo Center will be transformed into a model hospital. Some 450 high school students from the Greater Boston Greater Boston is the area of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts surrounding the city of Boston, Massachusetts. While Metro Boston tends to be the "Inner Core" surrounding the City of Boston, Greater Boston overlaps the North and South Shores, as well as the MetroWest region.  area will come to the Bayside to learn about a variety of career opportunities in the healthcare field. The event will run from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

 (D.A.R.E.) students will be acting as the crash victims. As the acting victims are evaluated, admitted and begin to receive care, the high school students will follow them through every step of their hospital experience. The students will accompany the victims through different departments including Emergency, Operating, Radiology radiology, branch of medicine specializing in the use of X rays, gamma rays, radioactive isotopes, and other forms of radiation in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. , Psychiatry, Physical Therapy and more.

The case study is interactive and the students will be asking questions as they observe healthcare professionals performing their daily work. There will be spokespeople available from the Department of Education, the Massachusetts Hospital Association and the individual healthcare organizations.

The goal is to expose high school students to a range of different types of opportunities available in the healthcare industry and encourage them to explore their interest in the healthcare area.
