The Bay Area Council will present the 2001 Outlook Conference on Friday, January 12, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Oakland Marriott Hotel Conference Center. The Bay Area Council Outlook Conference is the premier annual briefing on the economy and business in the Bay Area.

Speakers include:

-- Roger Ferguson, vice chairman of the Federal Reserve System, on the national
economy.

-- Gordon Smith, president and CEO of PG&E, on the energy crisis.

-- Craig Barrett, president and CEO of Intel Corp., on technology and the new
and old economy.

-- Liz Fetter, president and CEO of NorthPoint Communications Group, Inc., on
the high tech, telecommunications, and the global marketplace.

-- Dan Case, chairman and CEO of Chase H&Q, will chair a panels discussion on
the bio-tech industry with

-- Daniel Kisner, president and CEO of Caliper Technologies Corp.;

-- Jim Woody, president and general manager of Roche Bioscience;

-- Hollings Renton, chairman and CEO of Onyx Pharmaceuticals; and

The Bay Area Council Outlook Conference provides business, government, and academic leaders an examination of the trends and conditions shaping business and economy. This is the first time in its 29-year history that this event is being held in the East Bay. Craig Sullivan, chairman and CEO, The Clorox Company, is the chairman of the Conference.
