FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 12, 2000



WHO:           Former Nobel Peace Prize winner and Palm Beach County
               resident Betty Williams.

WHAT:          Williams will be a keynote speaker at The Fischler
               Graduate School of Education and Human Services' Summer
               Institute, a weeklong event for NSU's Ed.D. Program in
               Child and Youth Studies, a part of the FGSEHS.

WHEN:          Saturday, July 15-Friday, July 22.

WHERE:         The Wyndham Resort and Spa, located at 250 Racquet Club
               Road, Fort Lauderdale. Phone 954/389-3300

OTHER:         Williams will speak at the Grand Opening Session at
               1 p.m. Saturday, July 15, following a welcome from
               FGSEHS provost and dean H. Wells Singleton, and an
               introduction from FGSEHS executive dean Bill Alvarez.
               In 1976, Williams was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for
               her work against violence in her native Northern
               Ireland. Together, she and Mairead Corrigan-Maguire
               founded the Community of Peace People, an organization
               that is still involved in the betterment of life in
               Northern Ireland.

               The Ed.D. Program in Child and Youth Studies is just
               one of five Summer Institutes for students being
               offered by Nova Southeastern University. Others
               include: the National Ed.D. Program for Educational
               Leaders program, July 15-21, at The Marriott Harbor
               Beach Resort; doctoral programs from The Wayne Huizenga
               Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship,
               July 18-28, at the Doubletree Oceanfront Hotel;
               Programs for Higher Education, July 23-29, at the
               Westin La Paloma in Tucson, Arizona; and Programs in
               Instructional Technology and Distance Education,
               July 29-August 5, at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort.
               More than 1,500 students from across the country will
               be attending NSU's Summer Institutes over the next
               three weeks.
