Tropic Networks, a leading company providing optical packet networking systems to carriers in metropolitan area networks, today announced that Colin Kelly Colin Purdie Kelly, Jr. (July 11, 1915 – December 10, 1941). Born in Madison, Florida, he was a World War II B-17 Flying Fortress pilot who flew bombing runs against the Japanese navy in the first days after the Pearl Harbor attack. , director of optical architecture, will present at the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference. The conference is scheduled for July 8 - 12, 2001. Colin Kelly brings more than 15 years of experience in optical systems to Tropic Networks. Previously, Kelly was senior technical lead, optical architecture for next generation terabit routers for Cisco. Kelly also held the position of senior systems engineer with Cambrian Systems and was part of Nortel Network's OC-192 design team.

His area of expertise includes optical systems, high-speed clock recovery and system synchronization (1) See synchronous and synchronous transmission.
