The Barnett International Biochips Conference, featuring a comprehensive cross-section of biochip technologies, will highlight the potential use of biochips in biology and identify its practical applications. The conference will also deal with the issue of managing and processing the increasing volumes of information involved in the Human Genome Project as related to biochips. Executives from the biotechnology, bioscience, and bioengineering industries, leaders in academia, and pharmaceutical research scientists will be in attendance.

Dr. Happ will focus on discovery leaders' need to effectively exploit the vast stores of data being generated by genomics technology through advanced information management systems. She will illustrate how Spotfire's Web-enabled platform is helping researchers at the leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies analyze and interactively explore large, multidimensional data sets. She will also discuss a decision analytics platform for gene expression data evaluation that allows researchers to:

-- access data which may be spread across multiple databases and seamlessly integrate data from across diverse technologies

-- dynamically query and drill-down into visualized data

-- explore and compare intricate gene expression patterns and form

testable hypotheses

-- incorporate contextual annotation data

-- generate interactive Web reports for sharing findings and making informed decisions

As a member of the Professional Services Group at Spotfire, Inc., Dr. Happ provides training and consulting services on the implementation of decision analytics software.

Her expertise is in providing large volume data analysis and workflow solutions in drug discovery and pre-clinical drug development.

She has completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine in Denver, Colorado, where she trained in molecular biology and genetic analysis of normal and autoimmune T cell repertoires. Dr. Happ has over seven years of experience as a Research Scientist and Project Manager in the biotechnology industry. She has a strong technical expertise in cellular immunology, molecular biology and flow cytometry, with over 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
